The 2022 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study is based on responses from 29,487 original owners of 2019 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from July 2021 through November 2021.

The study, now in its 28th year, examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2014 model-year vehicles. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The study covers 177 specific problems grouped into eight major vehicle categories.

Lexus and Porsche tie to rank highest in vehicle dependability among all nameplates, with a score of 110 PP100. This is the sixth consecutive year of Lexus topping the nameplate rankings in the VDS.

The 2017 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study is based on responses from 35,186 original owners of 2014 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from October through December 2016.

The 2016 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study is based on responses from 33,560 original owners of 2013 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from October through December 2015.

The study, now in its 27th year, examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2013 model-year vehicles. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The study covers 177 specific problem symptoms grouped into eight major vehicle categories.

The Porsche 911 is the highest-ranked model for trouble-free ownership in the J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), released today. This was the second year in a row the sports car icon has taken top honors in the study and the third time in the past four years. The purpose of this FHWA study was to determine a benchmark border crossing delay measure for commercial vehicles ( ). Seven ports of entry were surveyed: four on the US/Canada border (Blaine, Ambassador Bridge, Peace Bridge, and Blue Water Bridge) and three on the US/Mexico border (Otay Mesa, El Paso, Laredo). Average delay times were calculated for each port of entry. The delay time represents the difference between the average crossing time and the free-flow crossing time.

Automated technologies could deliver additional economic and societal benefits. A NHTSA study showed that motor vehicle crashes cost billions each year. Eliminating the majority of vehicle crashes through technology could reduce this cost.

Vehicles are tested by the companies that build them. Companies must comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and certify that their vehicle is free of safety risks. Many companies today are testing vehicles with higher levels of automation to ensure that they operate as intended, but many experts indicate that more work remains to be done by developers to ensure their safe operation before they are available for consumers to purchase.

Activity trackers can potentially stimulate users to increase their physical activity behavior. The aim of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of ten consumer activity trackers for measuring step count in both laboratory and free-living conditions.

In order to examine the validity of the ten trackers in free-living conditions during a working day, the activity behavior of the participants was measured during one working day between 9.00 am and 4:30 pm. The participants wore each ten different trackers and the ActivPAL simultaneously. During the specified day, participants performed their normal daily activities; however, they were requested to abstain from cycling or driving a vehicle during the test period. This was required in order to be able to make a realistic comparison between the trackers; because the different wearing positions of the trackers might influence step measurements during these activities. The primary outcome measure was the total number of steps measured between 9 am to 4:30 pm.

The MovesR is a smartphone application. It uses acceleration sensors from a smartphone and GPS to measure the number of steps taken. The mobile phone used in the laboratory study was an Iphone 4S (Iphone 4S, Apple Inc., USA). During the free-living study the smartphone of the participant was used (IOS/Android) and carried in the front pocket of the trousers.

Table 3 illustrates the Intraclass Correlation Coefficients between the ten activity trackers and the gold standard, for both the laboratory study and the free-living study. In the laboratory study, the ICCs ranged from -.13 (Moves) to .99 (Lumoback, Withings Pulse, and Fitbit Zip). The ICCs in the free-living study ranged from 0.80 (Moves) to 1 (Fitbit Zip).
